Earthquake Felt in St Helens

The largest earthquake to hit the UK since 1990 struck across the UK at 1am on the morning of 27th February 2008.

St Helens residents were disturbed from their sleep as buildings shook and car and house alarms were activated, though early reports suggested that there was only minor damage caused.

The epicentre of the quake, which measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale was in Grimsby
